trick to print the value instead of text of a select field

I've got a text formula field that I'm using to create a link on my saved search.  I would like to include some additional data in the URL and thought it would be cool if I could use {field} to get the values in the url.  The problem with this idea is that the TEXT is printed, not the ID.

This makes sense, it's a report after all!

But..... is there a trick or function to get the id rather than the text?  EG: {<category>} or something like that?
