Can't Find Quick Add Bar

I'm trying to add the same text to multiple items on an item list view. I turned on the enable editing link.  The Help section says "Use the Quick Add bar the bottom of the list to enter and save new records."   I can't find the Quick Add bar.  What am I missing?  Thank you.
