Only show current items on search

I am trying to create an item search that shows current items that are either on hand or on order. If I put in the criteria that on hand is greater than 0 and on order is greater than 0, it only shows items that have an on hand and on order amount. Is there any way to bring up an item that is either on hand or on order - not both?
