Weighted Average in Search

Is there a way to calculate a weighted average in a formula field?  It would be simle if the SUM function were available:

Weighted Avg. = SUM(x*y)/SUM(x)

In the absence of the SUM function in a formula field, is there a way to accomplish this.  My ultimate goal is to display the weighted average of data from a custom record in a meter on my dashboard.
