(Spare) parts inventory
The company I am working for is a transportation company.
The maintenance department orders (spare) parts for the various vehicles that they own.
These parts are NOT for sale, but for own use.
The maintenance department wants to maintain the spare parts inventory.
But how should NS handle spare parts being taken out of the inventory to be used as a part of a specific vehicle?
A detail I should perhaps mention is that certain parts (the expensive ones)depreciate once in use,
while others (the relatively cheap parts) are expensed when taken in use.
Any ideas/tips/clues????
