Send to Contacts of Customers who purchased X item

I want to send an email campaign to contacts that belong to customers who have purchased a certain item. My problem is that when I use a saved Contact search and include transaction data (items purchased = x) the resulting contact list is only the primary contact of the customer. Not the full contact list of the customer. Any help would be appreciated.
