Case rule that identifies day of week

Does anyone know how to write a rule that identifies the day of the week?

I want to differentiate between normal Monday - Friday work days and weekends where cases would be directed differently but I see no way to identify this using the available fields.

Anyone have a suggestion other than creating a custom calculated field on the case?
