Can I control the 'Auto' tick box on Vendor (supplier) screen from Workflow?

I'd like to be able to control the 'Auto' tick box on the Vendor (supplier) screen from a Workflow:

The default functionality to have the ID automatically updated from the Company Name causes issues, and I'd prefer to untick this (and lock the ID field) to prevent accidental changes.....
