Is it possible to change a record's Internal ID after it has been created in NetSuite?

I received a question today regarding the possibility of changing the internal ID that was assigned to one of our subsidiaries in NetSuite. I don't necessarily think we want to do this, but I am curious about whether it is possible and what the possible ramifications may be of making a change like this.
