How can I enable the global search bar in an Employee Center role

Hi,

I've created a custom employee center role and assigned the permission Lists >> Perform Search = View . This is the minimum level required to show global search in roles in other centers. However, the global search bar still does not show up in the Employee Center role, not even when I set the level of Perform Search to Full.

Is this by design or am I missing something?
