Center Tabs and Categories

I am using Center Tabs to publish pages of KPI information as Dashboards for various users.

Some users (i.e. Finance and Management) need access to lots of these, and the top menu is getting overcrowded.

As far as I an see, Center Categories create the 'drop down' menus from the top options, but I'm not clear on what these can link to? The SuiteAnswers say they can link to a 'NetSuite Page'?

Can I create a Customer 'NetSuite Page' that contains portlets (like a Center Tab) but doesn't automatically appear on the top menu (so that I could then link to it using a Center Category)?
