Display Calculated Field instead of Name in a Dropdown list

I tried to search before asking - but have never figured out how to do this. I have a custom record with a Name field, a parent field, and a calculated field that concatenates parent name - name.

By default, when I create an item field of the custom record as a List type, the name field shows on the UI to the user selecting from the dropdown. However, I really want them to see a list of options from the calculated field. Is there any way to do this?
