Changing Units of Measure

edited Nov 28, 2019 3:48PM in Accounting / ERP 5 comments

I know that Suite Answers is very clear that you can't change the Units of Measure on an item - which is very frustrating.

I assume there isn't a way 'around' this limitation?

How do you deal with issues where this needs to be done? Do you create a new Item with the correct Units of Measure and then move the stock into the new Item?

Is there a way to rename the old Item so that the new one can retain the same Name / Code? It looks like this may be possible (according to Suite Answers) - but how does that affect any open transactions? If I rename the current item to '[name]-inactive' and move the stock onto the new name '[name]', how can I fulfil a sales order that has [name]-inactive included from stock that is now in [name]? Do I have to ensure there are no order pending fulfilment before making the change?

Howdy, Stranger!
