Automating Custom Button Click

Hi all,

I am looking for a solution if at all this is possible. We have a custom button (not my script) on Item Fulfillment record and we want to automate the manual button clicking process. For ex: A script created button 'XYZ' on IF and I wanted to press that button and action few other things using code in my script. Is this possible? I know the button internalID, but not sure how to action button press from a script.

Hope that makes sense.
