Custom CRM field with default value from an Item record

I have a new custom CRM field and I would like to fill it by default with a value from the Item record. Is this possible? and if so, how?


Example: I have a Campaign and want to be able to set a specific value for a "Conference" price for custom field X.

So I create a custom field on that campaign and give it a name. Every time I create a NEW campaign of the "Conference" category, I want to fill in field X with the price level "Conference" from Item Y.
