How to Source a Text Field From Sales Order to Project Record

I have a text field on the Sales order that I am trying to automatically populate on the Project Form when it is created. I have found information on doing this with numeric fields and using the Sum function in a custom search to drive the results. How can this be accomplished with a Text Field?
