Applying payments using REST API (or SOAP API) to invoices with payment terms/installments

I can successfully apply payments to invoices without Payment Installments defined, however, I get the "you are trying to add or remove lines from a static sublist" error and the payment is not applied to invoices for which there are installments defined.


Any thoughts regarding how I may build this part of the integration using the REST API or SOAP API?
