How to remove "items" sub-field from a purchase request form on the employee center?

Hello,

We would like to use only the Expense Categories under the Expense field and make Items not a mandatory field on our purchase request forms since we only use purchase requests forms to request a payment to a vendor. The current form is forcing us to choose both an expense and an item to submit a PO...Any help would be appreciated!!
