How to create a comparative Income Statement with 2 custom date ranges.

Since we can't do this with a Report, can we do it with a Workbook? Goal is to have a Workbook that is similar to an Income Statement, with 2 date ranges, where the user can adjust date filters. Example: Q1 2023 vs Q1 2022. With Reports you can only look at data relative to today (YTD) and then compare to that.
