Create scheduled deployments via script

I am trying to create new map reduce deployments using record.create but I cant seem to set the schedule fields after saving. As a workaround, I created a deployment with the schedule that I want so I can record.copy it hoping that it would retain the schedule. After saving , the schedule resets to single occurence and the start date of the schedule is blank even if it a required field. Is this expected behavior or a NetSuite bug?
