Impact of source system change for OBIA
Hi experts,
We are exploring the scenario where an existing OBIA 7.9.6.x implementation has a change in its primary data source (such as moving from one ERP solution to another - potentially Oracle Fusion Cloud). Has anyone made any major changes (a replacement) to the data source of an existing live OBIA implementation without having to perform a full load of the data warehouse via the ETL system? It sounds like it could be challenging from a data alignment perspective, especially around extensions to out of the box content where custom source attributes are pulled across, but not impossible.
I would be interested in any views on the feasibility of this and any gotchas to look out for. One thing I am concerned about is the potential move from an Oracle EBS source to having to use the Universal adapter to pull in data if the data source is not supported by a standard SDE process.
I know about the OBIA 11 architecture with support for the SDS to stage data from Fusion Cloud and ODI as the ELT tool in OBIA 11.x - but we are trying to see if there is any sensible way we can avoid a re-implementation.
cheers,
John
