OBIEE 12c Creating Repositories

Hi, I was previously using OBIEE 11g and now I am using OBIEE 12c. I didn't do much work on creating repositories, but I do want to know do you create a new repository in OBIEE 12c the same way you do in OBIEE 11g Administration? I saw that in OBIEE 12c you have to start and run the RCU to create repositories but can you also use OBIEE Administration to create a new repository in OBIEE 12c just as you would for 11g?

Hi,

It looks like you are mixing few things ....

By "repository" you mean RPD ?

The RCU must be run once prior to install OBIEE as during the install it require the RCU database connection details. For RCU it works in the same way in 11g or 12c (in 12c it can run the RCU script directly while installing instead of doing it before like 11g).

If you mean a RPD there is a big difference: in 11g you can deploy a RPD from Enterprise Manager (the web page), in 12c it's done by command line as there is no way to do it in Enterprise Manager. Other than that it's generally the same way to create and edit one.

If repository is something else for you ... well .... let's wait to see what it is before to guess more

Ok, so the creation of the RPD is just like in 11g at the beginning: you start creating your RPD offline adding the main things etc.

The big change is when you decide it's time to deploy your RPD and see how it works and what numbers it return.

The old 11g way was to go in Enterprise Manager, now in 12c you do that by command line.

There are tons of blogs covering the exact command and I'm not going to choose one to link here, just google for "obiee 12c upload rpd" and look around.
