Hi Team,

 

I want to understand what is the maximum limit of characters to pass as a text parameter of a BIP report?

 

Scenario: Based on output from another report we have to run another BIP report having input parameter from one of the column of the previous report.

So would like to understand the maximum length allowed to pass as parameter.

Hi Ashish,

Looks like there is limitation in the number of parameters i.e. 1000 parameters only allowed. But I couldnt find limit to the number of characters.

e.g. I am able to pass 1000 person_id as comma seperated values in the parameter which has 15999 characters.

The limit is 4000 characters ( and I am referring to normal English characters here).

Hi @Karthik_ks : I have tried and there is a limit of 4000 characters . But do you find any solution to tackle this problem . Is there any ideal way ?

Character Limits for Bursting Email Parameters
Email Subject (parameter4): Typically supports up to 256 characters.

Email Body (parameter5): Can handle up to 4,000 characters, but this may depend on the database's handling of CLOB data types.

@Lydia Jayasingh : There is no solution as we can pass max 1000 number of values in Parameter while calling the report .
