We can create the report in OBIEE by using advanced SQL..

New - Analysis- Create Analysis from simple logical SQL

You can click on Advanced tab and can create your own custom Query.

Not sure of the setup required for permission but a big hurdle to overcome is understanding the delivered connection pool names in order to access the data. I am by no means an expert, but the following connection pool names work in my testing environment

CRM DATA: "CRM_OLTP"."CONNECTION POOL"

HCM DATA: "HCM_OLTP"."CONNECTION POOL"

FSCM DATA: "FSCM_OLTP"."CONNECTION POOL"

Have just upvoted your idea. We are being told DDB queries are being deprecated at some point during the R13 cycle which is very disappointing news as we were looking to make a lot of use of this functionality.
