Bring back Direct Database Query

Description
Per the shadow deprecation https://support.oracle.com/epmos/faces/DocumentDisplay?id=2141412.1 - Direct Database Query is removed with 19A. I would like to request this functionality be added back. I was surprised to hear about this from a Customer Connect post. I mentioned it at the Oracle CAB that I'm at right now, and many other customers were surprised by this as well.
Use Case and Business Need
As an HCM Cloud developer, we do not have direct access to the database with normal means like SQL Developer. Direct Database Query functionality allows us to rapidly develop queries, or troubleshoot operational issues without having to create layouts (like in BI Publisher).

Absolutely! A very important functionality!

Direct Database Query is a tool needed to support our HR customers.

Hi,
I totally agree with this; and can't believe Oracle are removing the functionality. If the access to run direct queries is removed Oracle will need to ensure the OTBI subject areas cover all tables and columns in the DB.

Future Product Direction
Direct database query is not a supported OTBI feature for building reports. Customers are encouraged to use BI Answers to create interactive analyses, use BI Publisher for fixed-format reports and use BI Cloud Connector (BICC) for data extraction. If customers have created OTBI reports with Direct Database Query option, Oracle development strongly recommends migrating those reports to use OTBI subject areas as Direct Database Query will be deprecated in OTBI in 12 months.

Agreed

Chandra,
Not all HCM Data is accessible via the OTBI subject areas; therefore, how do we run reports on this data if the SQL capability is removed? E.g. see the following post about the Compensation Market Data not being accessible via the HCM Subject Areas:

Hi Karen,
You can still use the SQL Query capability in the data model and can create a BI Publisher report.
Thanks,
Chandra.

Chandra,
That's good as the SQL I wrote to extract the Compensation Market Data was used to create a data model and a BI Publisher Report. At least I know my report will still work once the Direct Database Query disappears.
