Use Case and Business Need

You are allowed to create and publish to OTBI as many DFF atributes as you want but once you want build analysis that filter on these DFF, you may face severe performance issues since no DFF attributes are indexed in OTBI. Hence this is a huge limitation for using OTBI

More details

The idea here is to enable the OTBI index creation in the DFF attribute setup page, so once the DFF are published again, you can take advantage of much higher performance

I personally feel the architecture for OTBI is very limiting for larger organisations. Oracle have so many cutting edge technologies in their kit bag that could vastly improve OTBI performance, but most are all sold as separate products instead of being utilised to make the core Fusion/OTBI product better for all. This includes things like federating queries (OLTP for intra-day changes, and pre-aggregated data/star schema for history), use of partitioning in key transaction tables, use of in-memory indexing etc etc.
