Hi,

As in normal BI reports, number formatting is not retained on number columns when report is downloaded as excel (Meaning : The report is viewable on screen and when we download it as excel, the number columns on report, shows up as 'General' type and not Number)

So, to maintain number format for number columns, we followed excel template approach to build the report. But the drawback here is: when excel template is used, when we execute the report the report is not viewable on screen but gets downloaded directly as excel file retaining number formatting.  So the concern is to have report as excel template report to achieve number formatting and also to have the report as Viewable on screen on execution.

 

If we try using RTF Template option to build reports, we have a limitation of number of columns that can be shown on reports due to which we are not able to use this approach across all reports.

Please help here, by providing the privilege of viewing excel template reports on screen on execution as well downloadable (which functionality is available now).

Looking for options to view Excel template based reports, to be viewable on screen on execution, as currently Oracle supports only Download option for excel template reports.

And we have limitation with using

  1) RTF Template approach as we cannot have more number of columns on RTF Templates.

 2) With Normal BI reports, when downloaded as excel the number formatting on number fields are not retained,

So, the requirement is to use Excel Template option for BI reports and to support report viewability on screen when report is executed.

Agreed, it would be useful to combine the best features of true Excel layout templates with online preview.
