Budgetary Control - Transactions Real Time Subject Area to include Chart of Account Segment Values
Organization Name
NatureScot
Description
I want to use the OTBI subject areas to create analysis reports that can be used in the organisation. However, the "Budgetary Control - Transactions Real Time" subject area only includes the concatenated segments of the chart of accounts or the Department, fund or object (inour case natural account) details.
We need to be able to report on any of the segments used in budgetary control.
Also the Account Description field doesn't show the whole description. I raised an SR about this and was told "this is how Essbase cube works and you cannot obtain the entire string in a report."
Use Case and Business Need
We are trying to use OTBI analysis for the organisation however, drawbacks like this mean we have to use BI Publisher for most of the reports we use.
I can't even find a subject area that lets me create analysis of the chart of account segments at all. Only where CoA data is available as part of another process e.g. GL journals.
More details
The Chart of Accounts is the fundamental way we report our Fusion data to the organisation however, OTBI analysis is not proving to be very useful in this regard.

I have run across this as well and had to go through a substring command to parse the segments out and then I was able to filter, etc.. against them.

Hi
We have a substring in place however, the full length of the concatenated segments doesn't show the full value for some of our segments which means the substring values don't mean anything.

Hi there,
Thank you for your idea. I am relocating it to our Transactional Reporting (OTBI) Idea Lab for proper review: https://cloudcustomerconnect.oracle.com/resources/b2df648d2a/summary
