Schedule an OTBI agent to send the analysis using parameters

Hello,

We have created an OTBI analysis, for which the parameters are as follows:

--Year to Date;

--Ledger ;

Also, I created an agent to send daily by e-mail the report to the business user.

Though, I did not find a way though which to pass a parameter for the "Year to Date" field when running the agent.

Can you please let me know how can I correctly pass the OTBI parameters to the analysis, as the content of the analysis without any parameter is very heavy.

Thank you

Cristina

    Hi Cristina,

    When you create your agent at design time in Delivery Content you can use Customize... to set a value for your filters in your analysis that you have deleted to deliver using this agent.

    Also if you publish your agent for subscription then the consumer can likewise do the same when they subscribe to the agent. In the manual see Customizing your agent subscriptions.

    And remember if you do not want to be hard coding a value, then similar to how you can make the default values of a dashboard prompt be based on the results of an analysis query, you can also make a filter in your analysis be based on the results from a sub query analysis. For example, get the year for the last day of the previous period using timestamp functions based on the variable CURRENT_DATE.

    Hello Nathan,

    Thank you for your reply!

    Do you know if there is any specific access that would allow me to customize the content?

    For me, it is greyed out and I am logged in with an implementation user.

    Best regards,

    Hi,

    Are you sure it is privileges. Does the analysis you have selected have a filter? If I delete the filter from my analysis then the customize button is indeed greyed out.

    Anyway just in case to review privileges to your user and /or role(s) then as bi administrator go to this page /analytics/saw.dll?PrivilegeAdmin Out of the box only 2 privileges are restricted from Authors.

    Hello Nathan,

    Is there any chance that you might have seen my last update?

    I have retried the suggested step and I am unable to see the Customize option enabled.

    And there are filters to my analysis:

    Thank you,

    Hi,

    Did you try edit the filters you want to change at runtime from "is equal to / is in" to "is prompted"

    Its at the bottom of the list of values in Operator when you create/edit a filter.

    hi Nathan,

    I have filters that have 'PROMPTS'. Even with this the 'Customize' option is greyed out for me. I have BI ADMIN role as well.

    Hello Vibha,

    There are two steps that you would need to achieve this:

    1.) Make the parameter/Filter operator as "Is prompted" in the analysis

    2.) Navigate to the Agent and under "Conditions" section click on the pencil icon and add these details

    Create condition based on —> select Analysis and then click on browse button to select your analysis

    Post that automatically your parameters will come up for scheduling

    Thanks, Please accept this as answer if this works for you.
