Can Key Metrics be moved from a development to a production environment?

When moving reports between environments, the key metrics do not move and cause reports with key metrics to be riddled with errors. The only way to solve those errors is to painstakingly recreate the key metrics in a new environment which would take up a lot of unnecessary time. Is there a way to export and import key metrics between environments to make the testing and development phase move to the production environment more smooth?
