BI Publisher Desktop add-in "Error while trying to access Report Server Location"

Hi all,
I have the BI publisher desktop add-in for Word/Excel etc to build RTF templates, but I can not log on, I get the error msg
"Error while trying to access Report Server Location: The remote server returned an error : (400) Bad Request.
Report Server Location is:
our URL"
URL, username/password are all fine ( port is 443 right? so format - http://host:port/xmlpserver)
What am I missing? or is there something wrong with the install/config?
I can load sample XML data with the add-ins, but this is far from ideal as if my sample data does not contain data in every field I do not see the field at all - i.e. DM has planned_end_date - if my sample data does not have at least one row with this populated then this field is not available to pick for the template.
I can build a template using the DM from inside BIP and then open in Word as a workaround, but would like to know how to get this to work correctly using the add-ins.
All help appreciated.
Many thanks,
Ian

Are you using sso user to connect? I know we have one ER request for this issue
During Login From BIP Desktop Tool To OAC (Oracle Analytics Cloud) Displays Error "Error while trying to access Report Server Location.." (Doc ID 2854124.1)
Workaround: create a non-sso user and use the same.

Thanks Arjun.
SSO is a global/instance config setting though - I can not turn on/off for one person.
