I created a blog and video walking through the fix from @User_86LUC
User_86Luc - I attributed the fix to your community username with links to this and the other thread. Let me know if you would like meYouTubeach your actual name in the blog and YouTube verbiage.

The above worked for me - with a caveat… It may be me just being slow.
When the instructions say "Delete LoadCount variable", - Delete the whole variable from the variable list, don't just delete the value of the variable and set back to zero.
Windows will recreate this variable the next time you load Word and enable the BI Pub addin. But it does work.
Thanks User_86LUC for sharing the steps

Hi!
In my case, the folder Word and all the subfolders under ‘HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Office\Word\Addins\’ was missing and the same happened with the folders under Office in the following Regestry key: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\WOW6432Node\Microsoft\Office\Word\Addins\TBAddIn.
I added all the folders (keys) and subfolders manually and added all the contents

After that I enabled the add in as it is explained in the excel and it worked!

What steps should I take next if the BI Publisher Addin isn't visible in Word when I go to enable it? In MS Word, BI Publisher Addin isn't visible in the Disabled, Slow and disabled or any other list under Addin.

@Kristi D - There is enabling and activating: 2 different states. If you clicked on "Yes" for the Disabled Addin box, you will have to go to options > AddIns and choose the Inactive addins from the bottom drop down list. Re-enable it. The you will probably have to reactivate it in order to see the menu item
