Field is in DM but not showing on BI Publisher to add to template

I'm trying to add a field to a BIP report and the field is included in the DM. When I open the template and access BIP and select field to add it to the template the field isn't available as an option. Does anyone have any troubleshooting tips on how to get this field to display?

Yes, if you upload the sample file to the BIP Plugin in Word.

You should be able to select the data element using the Field dialog.

Are you facing issue while mapping the xml column field or not able to see the same in xml file.

Hi @Sean-B-01 , I think you are facing this issue with XPT layout template. I would suggest to regenerate the XML data in Data model → View Data → View (Make sure new field is available) and click "Save as Sample Data" . Now try adding the new field in the template.

This might not be the issue, but if the field value is NULL in your date model (even if the column appears) that field will not show up when creating your report via the BI plugin for Word.

Hi @Mallikarjuna Kuppauru-Oracle ,

I can't find where to exaactly check my BIP version, I know it's 64 bit and was downloaded & installed on this computer in July 2024.

My issue is that I took on this Data Model and report to make a small change for an end user, the field they would like to see in the report is already in the Data Model, I didn't have to make any changes. When I open the report in BIP with the associated DM, the field doesn't show up to add to the report.

What type of template are you modifying: RTF, XPT, Excel..?

Open the sample data file in the data model, is there data in the field you ant to add?

I'm using an RTF template, data shows for the field in the sample data for the model.

I can export the sample data and attach it to the RTF template, would you suggest that as the workaround for my issue?

I haev same issue, i added a column in data model, saved sample data, column not null, downloaded RTF template, when I go to Field Browser, my new column is not present.

You have to edit the RTF an add the new fields.
