In our ongoing quest to recognize the outstanding community members, Mandeep Gupta stands out. He’s the pick for the Community Spotlight for this month. He’s Rank 7 - Analytics Coach, with an ability to be articulate and considerate when his helping and guiding his fellow community members. We had the pleasure of speaking with Mandeep about his journey within this community and using Oracle Analytics. Read on to discover his thoughts especially the guidance for new community members.

What is your current role & company?

At present, I am employed as a solution architect at Emerson IT Solutions (India) for fusion HCM applications. I collaborate with various stakeholders to provide the most appropriate technical solutions for reporting and integration needs. Getting problem statements and finding the best solutions is something I love.

How many years of experience do you have using Oracle Analytics?

I first started using BI publisher in 2009 as part of the Oracle EBS suite application, when it was known as XML publisher. BIP was very interesting, easy to use, and could meet different customer reporting needs compared to previous reporting tools like Report builder (RDF). And then eventually moved to Fusion BIP, OTBI, and Fusion Data Intelligence.

Which Oracle Analytics products do you use?

I am primarily engaged in Fusion Data Intelligence (HCM Analytics) and Fusion BIP and OTBI.

What is your preferred feature within Oracle Analytics?

I really like the visualizations that I can create with Oracle Analytics.

What did you do to become Analytics Coach (Rank 7) in the Community?

I always believe in giving back to society/community. The Oracle analytics community provided me with an opportunity to share my knowledge with others. I try to provide answers to the queries raised by various Oracle partners/customers based on my knowledge and similar situations encountered in my work life. When you get into the mindset of enjoying being a part of a community, which involves helping others with their questions, discovering new product features, and learning new tips and tricks, you start to grow. This is what I've been following.

What do you like about the Oracle Analytics Community website?

Really a great source of learning about the latest features of the product. Every day, there is a new thing or two to learn about from valued community members. This helps in professional and personal growth. Kudos to the Oracle analytics product team for hosting events and sharing useful links and information in different posts. I really appreciate the fact that the Oracle product team listens to the customers' ideas, prioritizes them, and delivers them.

What do you expect from the Oracle Analytics Community in the next year?

It would be great to see the community expand exponentially with more and more people joining the Oracle Analytics community and sharing their knowledge and product feedback. My personal goal is to make everyone around me aware of the Oracle analytics community and gain the benefits of live events and knowledge sharing sessions.

Are you active with one or more user groups? Please list them.

At present, I am a volunteer at the All India Oracle User Group (AIOUG). And I am very active in various Oracle communities, including Oracle Analytics, Cloud Customer Connect (the first and only member to hold the Tanzanite level (as of February 22nd, 2025),) and Oracle University community.

What is your advice for new Oracle Analytics community members?

Learning is a reciprocal process. You learn and receive many answers from the community, and it is your responsibility to share your knowledge with the community. No one is perfect or has all the answers. Community members share their knowledge and experience solely based on their availability after long office hours. So, respect everyone in the community, share your knowledge, and help it grow.
