What Descriptive Flexfields (DFFs) are supported in Oracle Fusion Payroll?
Hello Experts,
I am currently working on Oracle Fusion Payroll and would like to understand the scope of Descriptive Flexfields (DFFs) available in Payroll. Specifically, I want to know:
- Which DFFs are delivered out of the box in Fusion Payroll?
- Are there specific DFFs tied to Payroll elements, balances, or costing?
- Can these DFFs be customized or extended, and if so, what are the limitations?
- Are there any best practices while enabling or using DFFs in Payroll to avoid issues during payroll runs or reporting?
Any guidance, documentation references, or real-time examples would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance,
Kishor

Hello - in a nutshell…no DFFs are delivered "out of the box". - DFF functionality is provided for you to configure your own as required.
Go to Set up & Maintenance > Manage descriptive flexfields, then you can add you own where you want them. Eg for employee assignments, this will be under "Assignment Attributes".
Once configured, the data will be populated against the assoicated column.Eg if you create an assignment DFF against "ASS_ATTRBUTE1" then this will be populated in PER_ALL_ASSIGNMENTS_F.ASS_ATTRIBUTE1
I'm sure there are plenty of examples in the documentation and other posts on this forum0
