Reports are often moved into incorrect directories unknowingly.
The Challenge:Currently, there is no barrier or confirmation required when moving reports or folders via the drag-and-drop feature. This "high-sensitivity" interface frequently leads to accidental file displacement. Users unknowingly drag reports into the wrong directories, leading to:
- Loss of Data Visibility: Reports "disappear" from their intended locations.
- Broken Workflows: Shared links and bookmarks may fail.
- Increased Support Load: Time is wasted by both users and Admins trying to locate misplaced files.
The Proposed Solution:I suggest introducing "Structural Guardrails" to prevent these accidental moves. Key features would include:
- Action Confirmation: A simple "Are you sure?" pop-up or a "Move successful—Undo?" toast notification when a file is relocated.
- Navigation Lock: A toggle switch that locks the folder structure by default, requiring an intentional "Edit Mode" to be enabled before files can be moved.
- Visual Indicators: Highlighting the destination folder during a drag-and-drop to provide immediate visual feedback.
The Impact: By implementing these safeguards, we can significantly reduce "user error" tickets, maintain a cleaner data hierarchy, and provide a more confident browsing experience for all users.
I have outlined the basic logic for this feature and would welcome the opportunity to discuss how we might integrate this into the next development cycle.
