Visualizing Organizational Hierarchy with the Org Chart custom extension in Oracle Analytics
Comments

This Org Chart custom extension is a great addition , as it makes representing such reporting structures incredibly intuitive and visually clear. The ability to color-code nodes for roles and departments adds a great layer of functional depth that will definitely enhance our executive-level workbooks.

Hi @Lalitha Venkataraman-Oracle ,
Thanks for sharing!

I have tried using both Org chart V2 (available in oracle custom extension library) and Org Chart zip (provided in this chat) with HCM -workforce core subject area as my dataset by pulling person number and manager number. It does not display anything. But when i use table as visualization, it gives me results.
I have tried it with my own simple excel dataset but no org chart is appearing.
I have tried using chrome & edge with no success. Anyone have faced this issue?

@Ranganathan SriramThis extension needs to meet two conditions:
- There should be only one parent (for example, 1 CEO)
- The parent should not report to anyone else (for example, the CEO's reporting should be empty)

Thanks Lalitha. That helped,
I also noted some limitations
- Org chart does not get generated if my total rows exceed 25k, even if i use filter. I had to restrict it in my data flow to a specific division which allowed me to keep it below 25k and then it worked.
- Always drill from the root. Using filter i am not able to start from a manager in the middle of the org chart
- Export option comes with a limitation of printing only one level.
- Not able to hide the counts in the box
- More than 1 detail does not get displayed in the box. Only gets displayed on click
Do you also see them as issues?

@Ranganathan Sriram Thank you for your feedback. Yes, these are the known limitations of this extension.
The post includes a video that explains how the extension is intended to work.
This extension is shared as an example to show how the OAC SDK can be used to build custom extensions.0
