Auto Insurance Business Insights – Overall Strategy
This dashboard gives a big picture view of how our auto insurance business is doing. At the top, you can quickly check our total claims, how much we’ve paid out, what we’ve earned in premiums, and our loss ratio.
I have included trends so you can see how claims and policy retention have changed over time and even some forecasting to get a sense of where things might be headed.
You can dive deeper to see:
- How claims relate to deductibles.
- Which states have the most claims.
- How different customer groups (by age, gender, or good/bad driver status) compare when it comes to claims and risk.
- Where our high risk and high value policyholders are clustered.
- Breakdowns by policy type and accident type to see what’s driving our results.
I also highlight our highest risk drivers and show which age groups make up most of our business. The point is to help leaders spot problems, trends, or opportunities at a glance, so we can make smarter choices going forward.
1. Which dataset did you use?I used an auto insurance dataset from our team. It has details like claim amounts, types of accidents, driver ages and genders, policy information, and more.
2. How did you analyze or prepare the data?I opened the data in Oracle Analytics and looked it over to make sure everything looked right and there weren’t any big gaps or mistakes. I added a few simple calculations (like loss ratio and churn rate) so we could see things like the percentage of claims vs. premiums. I set it up so you can easily slice the data by year, location, and other details.
3. Who is the intended audience for your visualization? This dashboard is meant for company leaders and managers—basically anyone who wants a quick, clear picture of how the auto insurance business is doing.
4. What is your visualization about, and what question or problem does it address? The visualization shows key stats about our business (like total premiums, claims paid out, and how many customers are leaving or staying). It also helps us see which types of customers or drivers are riskier or more profitable—like by age group or accident type. It’s designed to help us spot trends, problem areas, and opportunities for improvement.
5. Did you use any Oracle Analytics AI features when building your visualization (ex. AI Assistant)? If so, please describe how they were used.Yes, I tried out the built-in forecasting feature to guess future trends for claims and policies. I also used some chart suggestions that Oracle Analytics offered to make sure the visuals told a clear story.
6. Did you upload your visualization image and dva file?
Yes, I uploaded both the screenshot(s) of my dashboard and the DVA file.
