Proposed Change to Time Dimension Behavior in HCM – Benefits Subject Area
In FAIDP, the Initial Extraction Date (IED) represents the starting point from which your organization's HCM data begins loading into the warehouse. In almost all subject areas, when reporting with the Time dimension (for example, Year, Quarter, Month, etc.) and metrics, results begin appearing from the IED year onward.
Currently, the HCM – Benefits subject area behaves differently. The Time dimension aligns directly to the actual transactional dates for events such as Benefit Relationships, Life Events, and Enrollments.
As a result, reports display results even for years prior to the IED as shown below.
To bring consistency across FDI subject areas, we are considering aligning the Benefits Time dimension behavior with the standard approach used in all subject areas. For example, all active enrollments as of IED, will start showing up against the IED year. Enrollments created after IED will show up against the respective years. This change will be applicable across all business objects of Benefits.
Please share your feedback or use cases if you currently rely on reporting results prior to the IED year.
Note: Please note, with this proposed change no data will be lost in reporting.
