Oracle Analytics Cloud – Sales Performance Dashboard using Dynamic Measures and Attributes
1. Which dataset did you use?
I used the Oracle Sample Sales dataset available in Oracle Analytics Cloud, which contains sales transactions, customer segments, product information, time attributes, and profitability metrics. The dataset includes measures such as Sales, Profit, and Quantity along with attributes like Country, Segment, Product Category and Year which are useful for building business performance dashboards.
2. How did you analyze or prepare the data?
I used Oracle Analytics Cloud dataset features to:
• Explore measures and attributes
• Create calculated measures like Profit
• Use dynamic measure selection (Sales / Profit / Quantity)
• Apply filters for Country, Segment and Year
• Use built-in visualization features to identify trends
I also used OAC visualization capabilities like KPI tiles, tree map, scatter plot and trend analysis to understand data patterns.
3. Who is the intended audience for your visualization?
This dashboard is designed for:
• Sales managers
• Business analysts
• Finance teams
• Decision makers
It helps them quickly understand revenue performance, profitability trends and customer segment contribution.
4. Key business insights from the dashboard
Some insights observed:
• Sales and profit trends across years show business growth patterns
• Government and Small Business segments contribute the highest revenue
• Some customer segments show negative profit indicating improvement areas
• Product level analysis shows correlation between sales and profitability
• Filters allow interactive business exploration
5. Learning outcome
This exercise helped me better understand:
• Difference between measures and attributes
• Dynamic measure switching
• Dashboard storytelling in Oracle Analytics Cloud
• Interactive filtering and visual analytics
