My organisation is currently starting another phase of Finance and Data Transformation and one element we are looking into now is wider Finance Management Reporting.
So far - we have used FDI predominantly looking at Direct Expenses/Direct Costs and using it almost in an Operational Reporting way - enabling closure of the Finance Ledgers at month end.
We are currently assessing which tool we want to use for wider management reporting and from an Oracle perspective are looking at both EPM Narrative Reporting and FDI as a potential solution.
One element that is missing from FDI to make this possible is the ability to capture commentary in a way that is dynamic - i.e. attached to specific segment values, specific periods, etc. to help explain variances to budgets and forecasts.
While there is a mechanism to add text to a dashboard, it is flat and is therefore stored at the dashboard level, rather than in the data.
Would it be possible to explore a commentary capture mechanism within FDI that would allow users to add comments? There would be a large number of contributors.
