In many cases in OTBI, Analysis cannot be achieved because multiple subject areas are required. This leads to building BIP reports which do not have as rich a user experience as OTBI Analysis. This is a particular challenge where pillars sit across multiple subject areas, for example receivables where data is needed from Transactions, Receipts, Applications and Payments in a single report or where negative reports are required such as employees with no goals.
It would be extremely useful if BIP Data Models could be used as the basis for an OTBI Analysis instead of subject areas. This would make the consumer experience more joined up, enable full interactivity for the reports/analysis such as drill down and deep linking and make the self-service author experience better as they would only need to learn how to build analysis.
Appreciate that there will be an option to run OTBI subject areas in FDI in the near future and this has the ability to create custom data sets but not all customers will have FDI and require similar functionality
