Idea / Enhancement Request
FDI should provide a governed layer of semantic-secured ADW / Autonomous AI Lakehouse views that can be used by Dataflows, SQL, Data Transforms, APEX, and external analytics tools while respecting FDI data security.
Today, FDI provides strong semantic-layer access through subject areas and delivered analytics. However, when customers work directly with ADW objects, custom schemas, SQL tools, or external integrations, they need a consistent way to access only the data a user or group is entitled to see.
Business Problem
Many customers want FDI to be the trusted enterprise analytics warehouse. However, security becomes more complex when data is accessed outside standard workbooks and subject areas. Business users, data engineers, and power users need access to warehouse-level objects for advanced use cases, but security teams do not want broad access to raw OAX tables or unsecured custom schemas.
The result is a gap between semantic-layer security and database-level access patterns.
Requested Enhancement
Please provide productized semantic-secured ADW views in FDI with:
- Secure views generated from FDI subject areas or selected business objects.
- Row-level security based on FDI data roles, security contexts, and security assignments.
- Current-user or current-group aware filtering at the database/query layer.
- Ability to use these secure views in Dataflows, Data Transforms, SQL Developer Web, APEX, and external BI tools.
- Masking or exclusion support for sensitive columns.
- Auditability showing which user queried which secure object and under which security context.
- Admin tooling to expose, revoke, version, and certify secure views.
- Compatibility with FDI refreshes, semantic model extensions, and upgrades.
Use Case
A project analytics team needs to combine FDI project cost data with external project execution milestones. They should be able to access a secure FDI Projects view that reflects their entitled projects only, join it with external milestone data, and write the output to a governed workspace table.
Business Value
This would improve trust in FDI as a secure enterprise data platform. It would reduce the risk of privileged or overly broad ADW access, simplify integrations with APEX and external analytics tools, and help customers build governed data products without bypassing FDI security.
Expected Outcome
FDI should provide a consistent security model across subject areas, Dataflows, SQL, custom schemas, and external consumption patterns.
