Business Need
When using hierarchical dimensions as filters in Oracle Analytics Cloud, the filter tree does not display all available members. As a result, users cannot browse the complete hierarchy and are unable to select every available value.
We validated that the data is available because, when the same dimension is included in an analysis and expanded to the lowest level, all members are returned correctly. The limitation occurs only in the filter interface.
The suggested workaround of searching by alias is not sufficient, as users often do not know the exact member name and rely on hierarchy navigation to locate the desired value.
Requested Enhancement
Allow hierarchical filters to display all available members, or provide a configurable option to define the maximum number of members displayed.
If displaying all members at once is a performance concern, alternatives such as lazy loading, pagination, or incremental loading while expanding the hierarchy would also address the issue.
Business Impact
This limitation negatively impacts report usability and user adoption.
Business users expect to navigate the hierarchy to find and select members. Since not all members are displayed, users may incorrectly assume that the data does not exist, even though it is available in the analysis.
Providing access to all hierarchy members would significantly improve usability, reduce confusion, and eliminate unnecessary support requests.
