Enable Oracle Fusion Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) Item History data as an out-of-the-box, analytics-ready dataset in Oracle Fusion Data Intelligence (FDI).The dataset should provide a governed audit trail of item-master and product-structure changes including who changed what, when, where, and the before/after values so organizations can monitor compliance-sensitive item attributes, investigate exceptions, support audit evidence, and analyze product-data change patterns at scale.
Business Problem / Opportunity
Oracle Fusion PLM’s Redwood Item History capability provides a valuable operational audit trail within the Fusion application. It captures changes across key product master-data entities, including item attributes, extensible flexfields, revisions, item organization associations, category assignments, structures, structure components, and attachments. However, the history is primarily consumed through transactional UI search and export. This creates several limitations for organizations that need to manage product-data compliance and risk across many items, organizations, regions, product lines, and users:
- Audit and compliance teams cannot easily analyze historical changes alongside enterprise dimensions and operational outcomes.
- Reviewing changes to sensitive item attributes such as tariff classifications, country-of-origin data, regulatory classifications, product categories, restricted-material indicators, or customs-related attributes can become a manual and reactive exercise.
- There is limited ability to create repeatable enterprise dashboards, exception reporting, trend analysis, or alerts based on item-history events.
- Root-cause analysis often requires manually combining item history with item, organization, supplier, inventory, sourcing, quality, trade, and change-order context.
- Organizations may rely on custom extracts, spreadsheets, or point-in-time reporting to assemble evidence for internal controls and external audits.
Proposed Enhancement
Provide an FDI PLM Item Audit History subject area / semantic model that exposes the Oracle Fusion Redwood Item History records in a secure, analytics-ready format. The subject area should support both detailed audit-event reporting and aggregated compliance/risk analytics.
Core Audit-History Measures and Attributes
Expose audit events at a granular level, including:
- Item number, item description, item class, lifecycle phase, status, and revision
- Master organization and child organization context
- Item attribute group and attribute name
- Old value and new value
- Change action or event type, such as create, update, delete, revision, structure/component change, or attachment action where supported
- Change timestamp, date, fiscal period, and elapsed time between changes
- User who performed the change and relevant user/security context
- Source transaction, source UI/process, and change-order context where applicable
- Item category and category hierarchy
- Extensible flexfield context and values where configured for history
- Structure, component, and attachment context where applicable
- Configured-history status, so users understand which attributes are governed and tracked

Enable prebuilt metrics, dashboards, and/or templates for:
- Compliance-sensitive item changes
- Monitor changes to configured high-risk attributes, including tariff, customs, regulatory, classification, and controlled product-data fields.
- Identify changes made outside defined approval windows or expected governance processes.

Extending this capability into FDI would turn transactional audit records into an enterprise analytics asset allowing organizations to move from manual, reactive audit review to proactive, measurable compliance and risk monitoring.
