Upcoming Changes to the Oracle Analytics Workbook Authoring Experience

Hello,

Starting with the OAC September 2026 update, you’ll notice some changes to the Workbook authoring experience. The Data, Visualize, and Present tabs will no longer be displayed at the top of the Workbook.

Here’s how you can navigate between these experiences going forward.

Presenting and configuring a presentation

The split-button next to Preview will provide two options:

Start Presenting – Opens the Workbook in Viewer mode, allowing you to view and present the Workbook.
Configure Presentation – Takes you to the Present workspace, where you can configure the presentation experience for your Workbook.

When you’re in the Present workspace, click Return to Editor to return to the Visualize workspace.

Accessing the Data workspace

To access the Data workspace, open the Overflow menu (⋮) and select the option to edit or manage the Workbook data.

These changes are intended to simplify the Workbook authoring experience while keeping the Data, Visualize, and Present capabilities easily accessible.

@Avinash Krishnaram-Oracle Thank you for sharing. At present, the functionality is immediately visible and accessible with a single click, making it simple for users. Moving to the new approach will require some user education, particularly in organizations like ours that have a large community of self-service BI users accustomed to the current experience.

The move toward a more streamlined Workbook authoring experience looks promising. Separating presentation configuration from the core editing experience should make the workflow cleaner, while still keeping the key capabilities easily accessible.

The new navigation approach may take some adjustment for existing users, but overall, this looks like a thoughtful improvement for OAC users.
