If you're a functional consultant, I’d recommend learning Fusion Data Intelligence (FDI) in stages rather than trying to learn everything at once.

A good starting point is Oracle's Fusion Data Intelligence Documentation Hub. It gives you separate paths for learning the product, implementation, administration and using the analytics content:

1. Start with the FDI fundamentals:

First understand 'what FDI is and how it fits into the Fusion ecosystem'. FDI provides prebuilt analytics on top of Fusion Cloud Applications, with data pipelines, a data warehouse/lakehouse, semantic models, prebuilt key metrics, workbooks and visualizations.

As a functional consultant, I would pay particular attention to:

• Fusion Cloud Applications → FDI data flow
• Subject areas
• Dimensions and facts
• Key metrics
• Workbooks and dashboards
• Data security
• Data refresh/pipelines
• Semantic model
• How functional concepts map to analytics concepts

2. Then learn the product from the functional/business-user perspective:

Before getting into administration or technical implementation, spend some time using the prebuilt content. Learn how to find subject areas, explore workbooks, understand key metrics and drill into the data.

There is also a current Oracle Community introductory session specifically aimed at people who are new to FDI/analytics. It covers terminology, navigation, prebuilt analytics, subject areas and key metrics:

3. Pick one Fusion pillar initially:

Don't try to learn ERP, HCM, SCM and CX analytics simultaneously.

If your functional background is, for example, Financials, start with Fusion ERP Analytics and learn it deeply. Once you understand the FDI architecture and concepts through one pillar, moving to another becomes much easier.

The documentation hub has separate learning areas for:

• Fusion ERP Analytics
• Fusion HCM Analytics
• Fusion SCM Analytics
• Fusion CX Analytics

4. After that, learn implementation/administration:

Once you're comfortable with the functional side, move into implementation. Oracle's implementation documentation covers the lifecycle from planning through activation, configuration, data validation, testing and go-live.

5. Don't ignore Oracle Analytics:

FDI uses Oracle Analytics capabilities, so after getting comfortable with FDI itself, I'd recommend learning the relevant Oracle Analytics concepts as well - particularly visualization, workbooks, datasets, semantic models and data preparation.

A possible Learning Sequence:

Fusion functional knowledge → FDI architecture → Subject areas/data model → Prebuilt analytics → Key metrics/workbooks → Security → Data pipelines → Extensions/customization → Oracle Analytics → Implementation & administration

That's a much more manageable route than trying to "learn everything about FDI" from day one.

Also, keep an eye on here (the Oracle Analytics Community), particularly the training/webinar posts. Oracle has been running introductory FDI sessions specifically for beginners.

One final suggestion: if your objective is to become an 'FDI implementation consultant', don't limit yourself to creating dashboards. Try to understand the complete lifecycle:

Fusion Cloud → Extraction/Data Pipeline → Lakehouse/Warehouse → Semantic Model → Subject Area → Key Metric/Workbook → Security → Business Consumption.

Once you understand that end-to-end flow, the individual FDI features start making much more sense.
