When the global Fine-Tune Filter Interactions setting is enabled in Oracle Analytics Cloud, the existing behavior of dashboard filter controls—particularly Limit Values By configurations that reference workbook-level filters—changes for legacy workbooks.
For existing workbooks, previously saved Limit Values By settings may no longer be retained or applied as expected after this system-level setting is enabled. The current workaround requires each workbook author to manually edit dashboard filters and set Limit Values By = Default. This is not practical for a large number of legacy workbooks and risks inconsistent behavior across environments.
Oracle Support has confirmed that this is the intended product behavior and should be submitted as an Enhancement Request rather than handled as a defect.
We request that Product Development provide a workbook-level setting or toggle for Fine-Tune Filter Interactions. This would allow workbook authors or administrators to choose, independently for each workbook, whether to use:
- The new Fine-Tune Filter Interactions behavior; or
- The existing/legacy filter interaction behavior.
The setting should be configurable through a simple On/Off control at workbook level, with the ability to preserve the current behavior for existing workbooks while allowing new or redesigned workbooks to adopt the enhanced behavior.
This would provide backward compatibility, avoid extensive rework of legacy content, and allow customers to migrate to the new behavior in a controlled manner.
Additionally, if the Fine-Tune Filter Interactions setting is enabled, please consider automatically setting Limit Values By to Default for dashboard filters. This would ensure that dashboard filter values continue to respect relevant workbook-level filters without requiring each workbook author to manually update every dashboard filter. It would significantly reduce the impact on existing workbooks and support a smoother transition to the enhanced behavior.
Thank You!
