Currently, an Oracle AI Data Platform catalogue is associated with a single connection. This can constrain how the catalogue represents logical data layers or domains that span multiple physical data sources.
For example, a logical Bronze layer may contain raw data in OCI Object Storage alongside data held in Oracle Autonomous AI Lakehouse. Architecturally, these assets belong to the same Bronze layer, but the current model requires separate catalogues because they use different connections.
It would be useful to decouple AIDP catalogues from individual physical connections, allowing a single catalogue to contain assets from multiple connections while retaining the source, location and lineage of each asset.
This would enable catalogues to represent logical architectural boundaries such as Bronze, Silver and Gold layers, business domains or data products, rather than being defined by the underlying storage technology.
