Actual "Span of Control" calculation (using HCM data)?

Would like to know if anyone has created an FDI calculation in "HCM - Workforce Core" subject area that returns true Span of Control (based on actual current manager to direct reportee ratios)? It seems both Oracle delivered Span of Control measures aggregate average ratios over a span of time. We would like to show a true SOC number (and be able to view it by Location, Job Level, etc. like any other measure) that is based on actual counts of direct reports for each individual manager based on current data.

OK so you are including 'Manager Person Number' in the Workbook so a separate result is displayed for each manager?

SUM(...) combines results across multiple rows/managers. That is useful for totals, but it can turn a manager-level result into the same rolled-up value repeated on every manager row.
COUNT(DISTINCT Manager Person Number) counts managers and divides by that count. This converts total direct reports into an average span across managers.

So, try replacing: SUM((COUNT("DirectReportees")/(COUNT(DISTINCT HCM - Workforce Core"."Manager Information"."Manager Person Number")))

with something like:

"HCM - Workforce Core"."Facts - Workforce Headcount"."Current Worker Count"
USING "HCM - Workforce Core"."Assignment Manager List"."Person Level" = 1

or just try removing SUM and the denominator from your existing query.

"Current" would have to be as of the time of the last Pipeline.

You would have to start by creating a Data Augmentation to bring in any required HCM source attributes that don't already exist in Workforce Core.

Then create a custom fact.
In FDI Console → Application Administration → Semantic Model Extensions, create a sandbox and add a custom fact based on the manager-level dataset. Include:

Direct Report Count — aggregation: Sum
Manager Person Number — used to count distinct managers
Current/as-of date, if retained
Manager dimensions, or joins to the corresponding dimensions

Create the reusable SOC measure similar to:
Current Span of Control = SUM(Direct Report Count) / COUNT(DISTINCT Manager Person Number)
At the individual-manager level, this returns their actual current number of direct reports. At Location, Job Level, or other manager dimensions, it returns the current group ratio—not an average of already-calculated manager ratios.

Then Create a custom subject area based on HCM – Workforce Core or as a separate custom subject area. Add the custom SOC fact plus the desired manager-side dimensions, such as Location, Job Level, Department, Business Unit, and Manager.

As I am not up to proficiency in completing all those tasks, I am considering only creating the calculation which will show SOC for each manager and leave it at that (but still use "current" data).
Based on your formula above, I created the calculation below, but it is giving me the same SOC for each manager. Do you perhaps have any advice on how the calculation should appear?

SUM((COUNT("DirectReportees")/(COUNT(DISTINCT HCM - Workforce Core"."Manager Information"."Manager Person Number")))

(DirectReportees is a calculation of: FILTER("HCM - Workforce Core"."Facts - Workforce Headcount"."Worker Count" USING "HCM - Workforce Core"."Assignment Manager List"."Person Level"=1)

This gets me to a direct report count, per manager. Which I believe at the individual manager level is the same as their SOC, so I can definetly use that.
